Platy Losing Fin Colour
Hi, I have a bit of a weird question.
I have a platy whose fins seem to be losing pigment. I'd say this started a year ago. They were fully coloured, but then I noticed that the edges of the tail and dorsal fin were clear. These "bands" have sice gotten wider, and the colour has also started to fade in between the rays of the fins.
The fish is completely fine; no clamped fins, never been sick (unless it was before I got it), no abnormal behavior. I got it two years ago, so it's not that old.
I've never seen/heard of this phenomenon, and I just wanted to make sure nothing bad is going on.Joseph Granata

Fish do age, so it could be a sign of getting old. Remember platys are livebearers so their lifespan is a lot shorter than most egg laying fish. If the fish looks healthy and is eating and swimming properly then dont sweat it.My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .
