Hi I joined a few weeks ago because I needed some advise and then never got round to introducing myself.
I love reading this forum - learnt so much already.

I am currently in month 4-5 of my first fish tank since I was a teenager, a 30g. When I started up I'd never heard of cycling but got all my fish and apple snails settled in, sat down to read a bit about the snails online and PANIC! I managed to cycle the tank with fish in and not lose a single one. Very proud of that and won't be trying it again. Too nerve-wracking. I was probably saved by a second hand filter - although it had been unplugged and dry for about a week I am guessing some bacteria survived in humid remains in the media and helped save my fishies!

I have about 6 male guppy/endlers, 6 neons, 5 kuhlie loaches and apple snails + a 3 cherry shrimps from a friend (all female). Did have a betta as well but he disappeared. Don't think he jumped as tank has a lid and there was no sign of him. Maybe he died and the other ate him? Apple snails can be quick ,,,

Lots of plants as I love plants and they are growing well. I do 50% weekly water changes to keep everything happy and hoping to reduce this as the plants grow more and more. So far, so good!

I will try to take some photos when I get home in a week. Left the tank in the care of my husband and he emails me daily with the headcount so I know all is well.
