    That is great news!

I'll start searching my lfs's and put them in QT with the GBR! I'm sure they don't have 40 on hand so i'll start to stock up on them now.
plus that will help budget them out. I think they run like 4-5bucks/fish here. but we'll see.

This will really make my tank pop!
    Woot woot!

I'm doing this in my 65g! Selling my Harlequins and Cardinals and replacing them with 50 or so neons.

For those of you wondering why I'm not using cardinals, the price. 50 cardinals would cost me $250. 50 neons is going to cost me $75. If you can get Cardinals at a reasonable price these would be nicer than Neons.

I would think you'd easily have room for 40 neons.

Not to hyjack this thread but Amelia; say it aint so!! You've been one of the biggest advocates of Harleys as long as I can remember!! Your realy giving them up? Darn as a fellow Harley lover, thats hard to hear, LOL .

Haha, Steeler I still love them! It's been a tough decision. If I had a third tank I'd set it up for them but I've had them for quite a while now and it's time for something new. I'm giving them to a good friend of mine in my aquatics club who I know will take care of them, and give them back to me if he ever tires of them!

I will still be a top Harley advocate! They are a fantastic community fish and school better than most tetras IMO.

Good enough reason LOL. I always start out without them when I start a new tank, swearing I'm only going to keep S. American tetra's, than the LFs gets in a colorful batch and there's a dozen in my tank.

I apolgize to Mizzou for kind of stealing your thread.

    Haha, not a worry guys.

Ran to the closest LFS to see their stock.

they have neons available and near 30 of them.

but they have an empty tank w/ a cardinal sign on it....so i'll wait till next week's shipments to see if they bring some in.

but the price here (its going to make you jealous Ameilia. lol) 1.99 for neons and 2.49 for cardinals.

Here's a great video that will make you glad you waited for the Cardinals. Shows the size they can optain when the swordtail swims in.

And yes Amelia gets "squeezed" on fish prices but I never realized how far from everything New Zealand is, even from Australia.

I like that video and prefer that bigger size on a fish.

I hoped on my local fish club forum to ask around and there are a few other stores selling them now 10 for 20 deals, so i'll check it out.
Stoked to build this school-now I wish I had a bigger QT to buy more at once. lol

After seeing that video and neons-I enjoy the bolder colors/more red on the cardinals.

I have 30 cardinals coming this week. I got my local pet supplies plus to give them to me for $2.39 each. They recently had a 50%off on their tropicals. You will definitely like the cards.

Just a bit of info to consider when buying a new batch at the lfs. Wait a few days before taking them home after they arrive. You will usually notice that the red band is a little faded when they first arrive. After three days at the lfs this band will come back a little brighter (not as deep as it will be in the home tank), thats when I make my mind to get some.
Too many times I've taken them home on day 1 after arrival (thinking they will all be gone soon), and found I lost some. When I went back to the lfs to view their stock, it too crashed as they said.
Take your time picking up these tetras. An established school at the lfs is a great find but usually you will pay more for it.
I think my last purchase price was 3 for $8.00 plus tax. I bought 9 of them and all made it into their second year so far. They were at the lfs for 5 days before I committed.
Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

Please remember; every keystroke has a consequence.
