  1. Default Beginner tank/stocking ideas - need help!

    0 Not allowed!
Hey guys, I have recently acquired a small 15 gallon tank from a friend.

Previously a guy from a local petstore suggested me wrong stocks and few of my fishes died. (I got to know from this forum only that I have stocked it wrong and haven't cycled it properly. Thanks so much guys!)

However, I'm starting from the scratch again. I'm getting a professional for doing the cycling of the tank. Regarding the stocks and the filtration system I need some suggestions..

    1. I want a sand bed with mid-large sized pebbles

    2. nice colorful fishes (haha!) I like both cardinal tetras and shubankin goldfishes (if it's possible to keep them together. I stay in India that too in the tropical region of India so it's pretty much hot and humid round the year except winters of course)

    3. some filtration system. Please tell me the common ones - because I don't know if all of them will be available here in India.

    4. There's very little iron in my tapwater

    5. decorations and other accessories I will be needing (the guy who's doing the cycling is asking me to add live plants and I don't know if it will be a good idea for a novice)

Please let me know. Thank you in advance.

I am afraid your stocking options are limited with a 15 gallon tank. I would suggest a school of the smaller tetras

You could do a small shell dwelling cichlid tank

You really should get in the habit of doing your own research as well. Even though there's knowledgeable people here it still pays to double check.

Lamprologus Multifasciatus or Neolamprologus multifasciatus as it's also known is the species to look into. A 15 gallon you could start with 2 pairs. Clean water, reasonably hard and an assortment of shells is all you really need. Fine sand on the bottom is best. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/article...cutter_10g.php
