So should I go with the EHEIM 2217 instead for more powerful filtration? I might want to add a few black kuhli loaches in the future...

    And about the fish:

I was thinking about adding twenty or so Neon or Glowlight Tetras

the 2217 is much better than the 2215 (rated 70 gallons better).
if you want smaller schooling fish like neons and glow lights then go right ahead. i had no idea what you wanted and i thought u were looking for a suggestion lol.

Hey you should also look at Pool Filter Sand too. 2 50lb bags would be more than enough to do a 75g. It's white, slightly larger grain size is nice and does not compact. Very clean stuff and only about 8 - 12 bucks a bag. You can find it at any pool or hot tub supply place.
I used it on the left side of my 72g.

i dont like pool filler sand at all. my experience with the silica based sands cause diatom out breaks. but there are plenty of cheap substrate you can use.

So according to your thread genocidex, the cheap sand is at the LFS?

What about CaribSea sand? I'll read up on it, but I also would like your opinion.

I have had no problems with my pool filter sand. It was even cleaner than the fancy $1 a pound aquarium sand. I bought 100 pounfs and it was enough for my 125 tank (I keep about a 2" sand bed). My local hardware store even had it, spent $10 for all 100 pounds.

Kevin it might have been that your pool filter sand came from a not great provider. We have a sand production place right outside our town and the sand I got came from them and it was fantastic. Have never had any algae on my sand either.

Never had an issue with that, no fishkeeper I know has had it. Perhaps you had different quality

    So it's 3 vs. 1:

Three say that pool sand is okay, and one disagrees and claims that pool filter sand is horrible and may cause an algae outbreak.

So far I'm going with CaribSea sand, but I don't know which color to choose. If two more people give credit to pool filter sand, I'll go with that :)

Main thing is, what colour do you want to look at?
