Gouramis are great community fish as long as theres no nippers. Harliquin rasboras are good, stay away from tiger barbs. Others that might be nice are cherry barbs, neons, almost all dianos, livebearers, ect. Gouramis are good population control for live bearers as well

I have a Platinum Gourami which is just a different colour variation from the golds and I keep her with Harlequin Rasbora, Cardinal Tetras, Cories, Dwarf Chain Loaches, Platys and Dwarf Cichlids in a 65g tank. I haven't met anything she won't get on with yet, although some people report their gourami to be quite aggressive.

Why don't you visit your LFS, write down the names of some fish you like and they come home to check if they're compatible?

3 spot gouramis are known to have the potential for aggression - the smaller the tank, the more likely there is to be a problem. I would not expect a problem with the fish you've mentioned, but it's something of which you should be aware.

Yes Jaysee's right -- but I suspect it may be the males which give the species a bad rep. My female is very docile. She likes to "touch" new fish with her feelers. I'm not sure if it's her way of showing aggression, but she only does it for a few minutes after I add the new fish -- after that she leaves them alone. Never seen her nip or chase anything.

Pat, I think a decent school of Harleys (say, 16), a couple of platys (4ish), your gourami and 8 or so Cories of your chosen species would make a lovely tank.

I'll put in another vote for Harleqin's, you can't ask for a better all around fish.
