Thumbs up saying hi and small tank planning

    Hello :)

I've learned so much from people on these forums. I just gave my three goldfish to a good home, they were living in a 10 gallon for quite some time. I originally got the tank to save 3 goldfish from an experiment in a physiology course. So, after my Dad killed them all to my dismay, in their honour I got three more. However, I got very addicted to the hobby and started working in a pet store and discovered this is an all time no-no! I'm working every day to stop the goldfish myths.

That being said, I now have a bristle nose, a red glass barb I rescued missing one eye, 2 blue male platys (1 tuxedo, 1 mickey mouse), and a separate 3 gallon with 6 guppy fry and a red-tail variatus platy I'm going to add to my main tank. I'm also gonna split the male and female guppies between the two tanks. This will hopefully be my completed tank, since I'm waiting a week between each addition to allow the biological filter to catch up.

    - female bristlenose
    - 3 male platy
    - 1 red glass barb with half a face
    - 3 female guppies
    - 2 ghost shrimp
    - 1 female betta
    - green cabomba, maybe some corkscrew vallisneria (plants for the shrimp to groom)

This may be overstocking... I might skip the betta. I can't wait to see what colours the guppies end up. I took them from work, a male guppy jumped the divide, and BAM, mystery babies. When the guppies go I want to stock it with harlequin rasboras. But I'll probably have a new obsession by then.

I'm feeding aqueon flakes, but want to switch to the omega one flakes. And I'll Also, I feed live brine shrimp as a treat and algae wafers to the pleco. I do 25% WC once a week, using a gravel vac. And test my water for ammonia weekly.

I hope to upgrade to a 70 gallon one day, and this crappy little 10 gallon can be my QT. Until then, I'm broke, and try my best with what I have in this crazy addiction.

I feel like I've learned so much from this forum. Thanks everyone!
