About 3 weeks ago I got my 3 ft tank, filled it, and got the filters going. I've fed the empty tank
to get the ammonia going and after the first week or so started testing the water. I hadn't
checked it over the past 4 or 5 days........ but today I had 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, and low
(maybe 5 to 10) nitrates! Yippee! Initially I put in a small bit of my old filter material in one of
the canister filters, so that maybe helped jump start the cycle. I was expecting maybe another
couple weeks or so to get 0/0/and a bit of nitrates, so I'm pleased it's done well.

I vacuumed the bits of food out and to start, I just put my 7 white clouds in and will keep a close
eye on the parameters each day. I wouldn't think the 7 of them would be too much at first, but
know I need to feed those bacteria starting to grow! Or.... is the 7 of them enough? Should I
add one of the goldfish, too (only small-ish.... 2.5 to 3 inches body length, not including tail)?
