  1. Default Yellow watchman goby & peppermint shrimp

    0 Not allowed!
    Hello,

I've recently noticed some weird behavior between these 2 in my tank. The peppermint shrimp has been harassing the yellow watchman goby. It is especially bad when I feed. The Goby eats and then the shrimp kind of attacks him. Its almost like he's trying to get the food out of the Goby. I've read about the relationship between the Goby and the pistol shrimp, but this doesnt seem symbiotic at all. Its more like harassment and the goby is not happy about it! I was just wondering if anyone else has seen this behavior between these 2 before. The interesting thing is that the Goby has been in the tank for well over a year and the shrimp only a few months. When food isnt present, they do seem to share the same cave.

PS- I would definitely recommend the peppermint shrimp for getting rid of aiptasia. I had a big problem with it when I got him and now I cant find a single one!

If it only happens when the food is present I would not worry about it. That should be their natural instinct to try and claim the food. In the wild the one who eats the most will be successful finding a mate and the gene pool moves on.

I wonder if the peppermint is trying to clean the yellow watchman, and the yellow watchman just doesn't like it, or doesnt understand. Peppermints are also a type of cleaner shrimp, I know mine try to sometimes clean my hands when they are in the tank
