feeding corydoras veggies?

I would like to know if I can feed my Cory cats some cucumber until I go to my lfs. Will they eat it? If so how should it be prepared?

Corys shoukd eat most veggies you give them. Cut a peice about 3/4-1" thick and put a fork in it. They should enjoy it. Remove after a few hrs

Yes, the fork is used a weight to hold it down. If you have zucchini try it instead of cucumber, it has more nutritional content to it.

Corydoras cats are not really known to forage for vegetation. They are designed to search out and eat small crustaceans etc from the stream bed or river bottom. While they may taste it and even eat some this is not really what they like to eat. Many plecos on the other hand are designed to eat veggies, there are a few that also eat the crustaceans too, you would look at the mouth design on the pleco to tell what it likes to eat. I look on planetcatfish to learn about cats specifically.

Your corys will eat flake food that drops to the bottom. they should be okay until you can get some veggie or algae wafers.
I've also found that my corys like frozen peas that i feed the tank weekly. I blanch them in the microwave, skin them then crush them a bit so they are in smaller pieces and they will sink to the bottom. the corys will find them. Don't make a daily diet of peas as they can act as a laxative but the peas should tide them over for a day or two as they will most likely clean them all up.

Also remember fish can go for days without eating (something I have to tell myself repeatedly to keep from overfeeding) because their metabolismis very, very slow.

Cories are carnivores, not herbivores. You can supplement their diet with some vegetables(in my experience cories will eat cucumber in moderation) but their staple should be meaty fare.

+ to this. Just trying to come up with something for him to feed them until he got to the lfs
