DIY doser (Super Easy)
Hi All~
I don't know about you guys but I sure hate trying to dose my liquid ferts using the cap or measuring spoons. I always make a mess! I thought I would give this idea a try.
Here is what you need:
- 1 x 10ml oral dosing syrenge $1.49 from the drug store
- some standard or silicone airline tubing (length depends on the size of your bottles
- drill and drill bits
- hobby knife or scissors to cut the tubing
Remove the caps and drill 2 holes - 15/64" was the bit I used. Cut your tubing a few inches longer than the depth of the bottles.
Connect the short end of the tubing to the syringe and pull the plunger to extract the liquid. Remove syringe and dose.
I used some tape to mark the short side of the tubing for reference. No more spills and accurate measuring.

Ya I just got tired of making a mess. Now I don't have to remove the cap on the bottle at all.

Looks a bit over-engineered, but clever work. You'll re-use the same cap each time I imagine?
I use a dropper/pipette to dose my ferts. I have a 1ml dropper and a 5ml dropper. They're fairly accurate and easy (and no drill required).

Creative. I use 5ml transfer pipettes, can buy around 100 of them for $4 on ebay. It's similar to a syringe but flexible.

Not a bad idea
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
