Baby Giant Danio Spotted!
Oh my goodness this just made my day.... My 65g has been in a holding pattern since I lost my last dwarf, as I didn't want to add more for awhile until I'd nailed down any potential issues.
Today when I looked in on my tank... I spot an inch long itty bitty little free swimmer fish. Based on inhabitants, it can only be a giant danio fry. How in the world it survived their voracious appetites as an egg and to get this big I have no idea.
I did isolate him in a breeder net area as I'm a bit worried he's still so small and would rather he not turn into a snack. I tried for a photo... but he's still super small.... perhaps after wc on Monday.

Congrats on the fryIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

My bf was able to nab a photo:
He seems to be doing well, fairly active and eating well... just very tiny.

Congratulations, it's always exciting to see fry, but especially when they are unexpected. When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher
Brutal honesty will be shown on this screen.
I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

That wee guy is super cute. ;) With any luck you might find more pop up every now and again.

Just an update... the wee one has grown enough that I moved him into my 20G L small tank. He is about the length of the neons, but lacking in girth, and a bit smaller than the blue eyes, so I think he will be alright until he gets big enough to go back as a free swimmer in the big tank.
In other news... I was so excited my little guy was growing... when I meant to turn off the faucet water since the bubbles were out of my changer hose... I mistakenly swapped it to fill instead... and soon realized my mistake as my tank started to overflow.
Thankfully It wasn't too bad and I have well water so I didn't kill them all with chlorine/chloramine, and I only needed a couple towels to dry it up. Just bone-headed.
