  1. Default Possible Sick Fish

Hello. I'm new here, nice to come across your forum community. I have 6 dwarf puffer fish living in a 10 gallon fresh water setup. I think one is sick, because the others are all fat and happy but this guys right side is all caved in; as if he were bent. He seems to be swimming ok and eating a little, not as much as the others though. Is this fish healthy? I can't seem to take a pic as they move so fast...

    Thanks in advance!

  2. Default

Welcome to the forum. In order to help you we need to know a couple of things. What are your water parameters? Ammonia, nitrate, nitrite? How often do you change the water and how much?

  3. Default

My Ammonia and Nitrite are minimal, nitrate is fairly high high though, around 40 ppm usually. I change the water twice a month. 5 of the 6 fish are OK. One has a caved in side. Does this resemble any common fish diseases??

  4. Default

I would start by upping the frequency of your water changes at least every other day with a good vacuum. Your nitrates are very hight and you need to bring it under 10. Fresh clean water may be all he needs. Keep us posted.
