ideas on shorter plants for shrimp.
0
so i am redoing my shrimp tank. lighting shouldnt be an issue (10g and 23w clf screw in... might take that down a notch) substrate and ferts arent an issue (liquid or tabs) , but the co2 im limited to (at the moment) liquid additives. most likely going to go into diy co2 with this tank... but that might be a couple months down the road.
i was thinking of micro swords, or dwarf tears. but the tears seem harder to find and the swords are starting to look eh to me.... i am bidding on a cheap Dwarf Sagittaria, but that might not pan out. the only plant i plan on taking from my 10g set up now is the moss ball cause i love that thing lol. besides that i dont want any java moss, and i think the tank is too bright for lower light plants... even if i went down to 13w clf i think im still in the lower high light plants.
i would like plans that dont mind either being constantly trimmed to below water line, or plants that only get a few inches tall. possibly clovers? but those seem a bit difficult to get a decent qty.
slower growers would be better please. but since im using both ferts and co2 i dont think thats too realistic.

Here is a good one if you can find it, round pellia or (Susswassertang). Check it out on google. I have this in my rcs tank and they love it. It grows under normal lights but doesn't go crazy like java.
Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..
Please remember; every keystroke has a consequence.

I had an ozelot and that was a slow grower, pretty plant too.

Pogostemon Helferi stays short and offers great hiding for shrimplets.

A lot of the crypts would do well in your setup and stay small.
I have a couple of red sword plants with pointy leaves that have stayed small. They look like this: http://naturalaquariums.com/plants/echinred.html
I'm not sure exactly what species they are...
A dwarf lily may also work, but may get too big, despite being "dwarf". With regular trimmings, it should be fine though.
Water sprite is a fast grower, but doesn't mind being trimmed often. Its fine leaves would pair nicely with the shrimp.
Lastly, +1 to the clovers--they will spread via runners around the tank, so you don't need a ton to start off with.

Not sure what you mean... Do you mean clovers from the lawn in front of your house? No, those aren't aquatic plants. You're looking for the aquatic 4-leaf clover, Marsilea quadrifolia (though there are also other, similar Marsilea species). Do you mean it will form a lawn in your tank? If you get the aquatic clover, then yes, it will eventually. Btw, in the submersed form, it is actually a single leaf on a short stem, not "4-leaf"ed.

In this hobby, it's always better to ask more questions rather than less
