Sand Waterfall

Hey everybody, first time poster here, i am very interested in creating a sand waterfall in my aquarium. I have looked all over the internet and can cannot seem to buy one for love nor money. I have seen this. . .

It is made from poly resin but i cannot find out what it is painted with. I would rip all the electrics out and run a one inch pvc with elbow and bubble stone behind it to convert it from water to sand. Do you guys think this would be safe to use in an aquarium ? or have any other ideas of things i could use to recreate one of these amazing waterfalls

Welcome to the forum

I think it will probably be a mess. There's probably a good reason why you haven't been able to find one :) The only way I can see it "working" is if you have a closed system.

I cant see the video above so pardon if I direct you to the same source (work cpu)... Uarujoey has a good instructional video on this on youtube. All it required is an adjustable air pump and a feed tube like on a UGF.

Hahaha, I would have used sand appropriate for the application, were I making a "how to" video on the subject...

I think it could work in a tank with minimal circulation.

Thanks for thr comments guys, I have seen that tutorial as well as many other working sand waterfalls on youtube. I don't think they are hard to make with an adjustable air pump. My main query is would the waterfall in the link I posted be aquarium safe as I do not know what paint was used to make it?

Probably wouldn't be worth the risk... there's no way to really tell if it would leech chemical etc.

Would glazing it over in aqua silicon possibly work? Or would it be best to try and make something from scratch. I'm not really that arty and would rather just buy something and convert it

Or could it be possible to submerge it for a couple of weeks in a bucket to bleed any possible chemicals out before putting it in the tank? Sorry for all the questions but I really like that piece as it fits with my Amazon 3d background
