Tilapia
At my LFS the other day I saw some gorgeous black and yellow Tilapia. I didn't realize they looked like this!
What do you all know about them? I'm pretty sure that my stock won't allow for one, but just in case I get one in the far away future, tell me some stuff!!!!
Tank requirements, water params, tank mates, habits ---130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 17 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, ? Ghost Shrimp
I've noticed that people HATE it when you point out how stupid they are, so now I try to do it politely.

There are many different species of tilapia including hybrids. They range from semi aggressive to downright murderous. Was the one you saw striped?
If this is the fish you saw, (a buttikoferi) prepare for a bloodbath if you intend to keep tankmates. They are some of the most aggressive fish you can get.

Yes, black and yellow striped.
Like this:

The above is exactly what I saw.
Eww, so that would def be a species only tank? Or just one?130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 17 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, ? Ghost Shrimp

I wouldnt even keep more than one unless its a very large tank. I know people who have tried keeping them with doviis and it just ended in both fish killing each other.

Well good grief. Lol. *Sighs A girl can dream I guess.
So what would min tank size for one be? Not that I'd want that. I hate to have a tank with just one stinking fish in it. Lol. Just curious.130g: 7 Angelfish, 1 Bolivian, 17 Neon Tetras, 14 Serpae Tetras, 9 Kuhli Loaches, 1 Otocinslus, ? Ghost Shrimp

One speices got released into the wild in New Guinea and wiped out a couple of species of Rainbow fish that were only native to that one lake. So they are very adaptive.

Doesn't surprise me. If you see what they feed the farm tilapia....
Over here tilapia and pangasius are the most popular farmed fish. And I must say they are very nice fish to eat.My 33 gallon/125 liter tank. My photography on flickr.
