  1. Default aquarium safe glue??

I made a DIY cave out of pvc pipe, and I would like to coat it with the sand that makes up my substrate to help it blend in.
What kind of glue would be both aquarium safe and not leech any chemicals into the water that would harm the fish, and thin and waterproof enough to cover the entire pipe so I could sprinkle sand and it would stick and stay stuck underwater?

If you give the surface of the PVC a light sanding, you could use aquarium safe silicone. I have done that before and it works great
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I used the silicone and sand on my pvc tubes, as well. Just remember to allow it to dry for two days. I only use in the tank what is stated for aquarium use to stay on the side of safe. Small gravels or shells also work.

2 component epoxy is often used in DIY backgrounds. That would allow for an easy even and thin coat. When prepared properly it should harden beautifully. Drawback is that it's sold in amounts far greater than what you'd need for this job. So, aquarium grade silicone is probably your best bet.

My vote is silicone as well. I use it all the time on the backgrounds i make. I know there are other types of glues but this is the safest and cheapest.
