Ideal number and type of tetras for a 29g with a GBR and corys.

Like the title says I plan to have 12 small corys a GBR and want tetras that can live with the GBR and not end up a snack. Filtration wise I've got enough for tank twice that size and while it will be planted with lots of driftwood; substrate and background wise it will be black with ample lighting so I want a nice school that will really pop out. Regular neons seem a tad on the small size and I've had so many before I'd like something different I can order them from my LFS or go with that they have any advice much appreciated.

You've got 3 threads going on this tank - might be easier if they were combined in one.

I have 7 Colombian and 6 serpae tetras in my 30 gal with a GBR and 6 cories so from experience I can tell you there is absolute harmony. I also have a dwarf gourami (one of my first fish) and a Bristlenose pleco. Very pretty and harmonious tank. This tank might be a little heavily stocked to suit most but I do 50% weekly W/C and never have nitrates above 15 - 20 by w/c day. If you went with 2 tetra schools I'd cut down to one type of cory and keep the number at 6 - 8.
There are a lot of tetras, however, to choose from. Many here like the emperor and the priselas (sp).

+1 to fishmommie on her suggestions. To add some other's that are usualy available and hardy, you could go with Lemon's, Head and Tail Lights, Bloodfins, Rosy and Black phantoms. All get a little bigger and their shape, except the Bloodfins make them hard to swallow.

Her numbers are right on to, if your considering one or two schools.

I got a little carried away with the threads lol. Thx for some more solid advice I'll probably see what I can find around here locally if I don't find any I like maybe I'll order some emperor or red phantoms I'm gonna keep it to 1 school most likely. Now I just need some info on my plant thread and I'm golden!
