He eats like a horse and acts like a crackhead swimming all over but yeah now that I know how high the levels are I'm gonna do 50% everyday until they are much lower and another one today since you have me feeling bad for the poor guy.

I got the ammonia down to less than .25ppm and the nitrites are about .75ppm. I'll keep up the water changes and all will be well for my mongrel koi.

Good for you on the ammonia. He was probably swimming like a crackhead because he was hurting.
I'd do another W/C today, though to get on top of those nitrates. You're mongrel koi will love you even more for it :o)30 gal FW:dw gourami, cory cats, ABN pleco, Colombian & Serpae tetra, nerites & mystery snails

I have both False Julii and peppered corys and just adore them, especially the julii...either way you'll have a blast watching them school together.

You really are a fishmommie I did ANOTHER change lol; I didn't bother testing but I'm sure the nitrites are under .5ppm, my nitrates are 5ppm or under its hard to tell on the test kit.
I also cut his food down since I was overfeeding him thinking it would speed up cycling which it really doesn't. I also turned the heater to 82 degrees to speed the cycling up and lowered the water level a bit so the filters create more oxygen in the water for bacteria to grow faster.
JudiJetson I noticed on on planetcatfish Julii get mislabeled like you said but I thought since I'm special ordering them all I'd get the right ones but the trilineatus are just as cool looking to me if I end up with those.

I think Koi is a cold water fish. If that is the case, will the high temp torture him? High temps are ideal for cycling without fish but since you have koi in there it might not be such a good idea.

I thought the same but 82 degrees is fine according to what I read for them, it's on the upper end temp wise but hes the happiest fish I've ever had even before I got my test kit and the ammonia etc were really high he acted the same as he does with them being very low. The same can be said with the temp change if he has a problem with it I can't tell.
