My uncle, who also has a 55 planted tank, got a male long ear sunfish for the tank. Any ideas on care and possible tank mates ( ie frogs, small aquatic turtles, other native fish such as bullheads or shiners. ) also what would the care for tank mates be? Also, preferably Tennessee natives for the tank mates.

for native fish information you can contact your local Dept of fish and wildlife. Tennessee is one of the states has darters as a native fish, look into which varieties are in the streams near you.
When in d0ubt read it until it makes sense, then read it again!

The long ear sunfish could probably be re homed in a private pond, so heres the suggested stock list
4)blue spot sunfish
4)black banded sunfish
1)tadpole madtom
8)flagfin shiner
5)rainbow shiners
1)pirate perch
Is this over stocked? If so what would be the best setup for people who have keep fish before but never natives?

Florida Flagfish is definitely native to me, Bluegill would get to big as would most gar. There are a few that get max 6in but I would need Crispy to chime in here on this one.
