chcolat pleco

i just got a chocolat pleco and i was told it will only get 5-7 inches. after looking this fish up after i got it i found out it can get big. any advice on this fish?

What is your tank size and what other fish do you have in your tank?

If this is your fish http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog...?species_id=80 it will get nearly 11 inches and will need a big tank. I have read elsewhere on the internet that some common plecos are called chocolate plecos and they will get huge. If you don't have or can't purchase a large tank for your pleco the only advice I can give you is to return it.

Pretty much the whole of the Pterygoplichthys family gets big and needs tanks at least 5 ft long. Always puzzles me why these are so popular with shops.

Anyway, OP, don't know what your tank is like but if this is indeed the species you bought then take it back.

i have a 30 gallon i just took it back and got a rubber lip. also i have 6 goldfish 1 dojo. i just got the 1 goldfish today. i am planing on getting a big tank but first have to find room for one and then make or get a stand. its a super man shape fish tank 150 gallon so i have been told. i will know for sure when i get it.

I guess that would be a corner tank. I hope you get it soon, 6 goldfish won't last long in a 30g.

i know and its a corner tank but it is the shape like the super man symbol this guy made it hime self. i have not found a stand for it yet im thinking im going to have to make one. and i need the filters and decore. it will be awile before i get it all and set it up but right now my goldfish are small biggest one is 2-3 inches then the rest are .5-1 inches long. all my fish are small and i have 2 filters a 30 gallon and a 20 gallon filter so it will work until i get it all and set it up.

Neither will a single dojo loach or the rubber lip. Loneliness will get the first, bad water will kill the second.

i know and when i get the second tank i am going to get more dojo and probly 2 more rubber lip. its just going to take time. till then i do a 50% water change every week. and yes but the front is longer its similar but longer sides.
