  1. Question Veggie variety for BN plecos

My 2 BN plecos LOVE broccoli and really like peas - no interest in zucchini.

How important is it to vary the fresh veggies offered? They get an algae wafer every other day, shelled peas 2-3 times a week and always have broccoli available.

Is it okay to feed only the broccoli & peas as their fresh veggies?

I would think that would be OK

Mine get three different types of veggies based on what looks the most fresh at the store, either zucchini, cucumbers, or watermelon.

As log as they get a good mixture of fresh veggies and algae wafers I would think your plecos will do OK
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

My one rubber lipped bull dog (now my sons), loves his wafer daily, cuc and zucchini alternated twice a week. If i put a new slice in the day after he has had some, it is ignored. He or she (not sure), like fresh veggies every few days. I guess every pleco has their own taste. lol
Warning; Bulldog Pleco guarding my Sons tank now..

Please remember; every keystroke has a consequence.

Well fish just like humans do better on a varied diet. I try to give all my fish a few different types of food.

I forgot to mention - I made some spinach wafers for my snails to help keep their shells strong and my BNP loves the spinach
I just bought a small can of no salt cooked spinach, squeezed as much water out as possible, and formed them into nickle sized rounds and froze them. Then I simply toss one in the tank weekly, let it sink and by the time anyone finds it, it's thawed and stays on the bottom.

I always believe that the bigger the variety the healthier the fish. So I have tried lots of veg and fruit. So heres now what i know my BN's will eat - potato. Carrot. Butternut squash. Courgette. Cucumber. Pumpkin. Pear. Apple. Watermelon. Galia melon. Cabage.
    My therapist says I need a bigger tank . . . . .

Agree with Scottie, the more the merrier. If they turn their nose up at it, cross it off the list. Having said that, if they have a firm favourite and refuse everything else, stick with it

Didn't see this mentioned yet, nori (dried seaweed). One of those suction cup clips holds it well or just stick a fork into it. My african cichlids love the stuff, also I put it into the tanks with shrimp and otocinclus. Best to use nori that doesn't have any spices or flavoring added to it. Can be found at most asian grocery stores, fairly cheap, used for sushi (and other things?).
