    Default Freshwater clams

I bought some clams off ebay, a few arrived DOA but most were fine. I put them in a container of sand and most of them burrowed, but a few of the larger ones did not but they are still alive. They stay slightly open and close tightly if the are disturbed. To be honest I don't know the species but here is a link of the ebay.

Any opinion on why they are not burrowing?

I have a 20 gallon tropical aquarium, full of healthy plants and fish.

When I first bought them on Ebay I had some green water and just recently added an undergravel filter. By the time the clams arrived the undergravel filter had already done the trick (DOH!, sort of) and the water is crystal clear. In the evening I have been adding some bread yeast in hopes of feeding them, and surely there is still some zooplankton in the aquarium.

They were hilarious when the first started burrowing, I caught them in the act with a flashlight

I wouldn't be so delighted until I know exactly the scientific name of the species. EBAY's " LIVE FRESHWATER CLAMS WATER FILTERS KOI POND aquarium fish tank feeders" is nothing specific. Besides, in the pictures available there I clearly see 2 diferent clams, one of them is a suspected to belong to any of the family under order Unionoida which grow huge and their larvae has a stage of parasite on fish gills. I would make sure first that those are of Corbicula order.
I kept Corbiculas in my community tank for ,ore than 1,5 year and I confirm that sometimes they can stay unburried for some time, but their normal living state is "burrowed" of course.
