Pond Snails, Something to worry about?
I discovered a TON of snail eggs when I was cleaning my filter and I decided not to remove them. I'm assuming they hitch hiked on some plants at one point, but that puts them having been in my tank for 2 months, yet I never see them. I see evidence of snails in my tank because they clean the sides of the tank where I can see their little trails through some algae spots. Having a soft water tank, I know that their shells are softer so I think my fish are also eating them. It seems I have a controlled population of pond snails, so should I bother removing them or just let them do their thing unless they become a problem? I never actually see any snails so maybe they tend to stay in my filter, in which case they're living off what gets caught in the sponge and essentially keeping my filter media clean. So should I worry?

Choice is yours. Worrying is very popular but it seems in your case tere's little to worry about.

they aren't harmful, so unless you find their presence in the tank visually disturbing or they are blanketing every square inch of space, there is no reason to attempt eradication

Good to know, I was just wondering if it was going to be like one morning I turn on the light and BAM snail infestation or if it seemed like things were working out, so thanks for the replies :)

They are hamless, but if you DO experience an influx of snails you can reduce feeding frequency by 50% and they will reduce tremendously of the next week or so.
But since you have said that you barely see them in the tank suggests that they are under control.Fiiiiiiiiiiissssshhhhhh!
