    Default 44 Us gal tank, with 30 gal sump tank.

    Hi I have just aquired a 44gal tank which included a 30 gal sump tank. I am keeping the tank tropical and I just wondered if anyone had any advice as to what media I should use in the sump tank for filtration. Thanks in advance

    It depends on the type of filter you are using. For a wet/dry filter or trickle filter I use plastic pot scrubbers or bioballs.

    Nope... no carbon is required. In fact you will find that most people here do not use carbon at all. I just started a 72g project and built a 20g long sump from scratch. You can check it out here if you want some info - http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aqua...d.php?t=110372
