that really does look great, Jenn. Could you post the dimensions of the tank (if you haven't already)? You've got me thinking about one. I'm also thinking about planting a tank. It's time. How did you plant the vals and other plants? are they in the substrate with root tabs or are they attached to the wood?

Thanks for the kind complements. This tank is super easy to scape and I was handed a great package of wood which I couldnt really go wrong placing.

The tank is 30"Lx18"Wx24"H. The vals are in the substrate which is just pool filter sand from Ace. The anubias and fern is just kind of stuck to the wood. I typically do not attach plants to wood with anything, if they are weighed down for a short time they will attach on their own. I also am not using root tabs, Vals primarily consume their nutrients from the water column. I am using a weekly dose of Flourish Comprehensive. Given the low light I doubt I will ever dose anything else more specific on this tank.

Thanks! that sounds easy enough that maybe even I can grow some vals.:o)

Interesting to see a setup that extend so much forward. It's showing promise already, should look really stunning in 6 weeks of time. Well done!

Honestly, you should do 'scaping competitions.
Yes, but she already is in competition with herself. Every new tank Jenn creates is more impressive than the last one.
When in doubt, do a water change.

Thank you for all of the kind comments. I am hoping this new group of tanks is better than I have ever done.

Yes this tank is scaped much differently than I typically do and much more forward than others I have done in the past. The reason behind this is that I pretty much placed everything in the middle, one side of this tank faces my kitchen so the left side also had to have visual appeal. This tank is a dream to work with scape wise, it also offers much more room than I had anticipated for fish. The 12 Serpae are definitely not taxing the space at all. plant growth wont be too noticeable except for hopefully the Vals.

    WOW

I wish I could hire you to re-do my tank
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

    Impressive as always.
When I go fishing I just place a sharp rock in the water and sit there waiting for all the dead fish to float to the top... Kingfisher

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.
