Did this start happening after you introduced the cory's and do the apisto's show any aggression to the cory's, even mild interest? Here is an interesting read about cory's. http://www.ianfuller.com/articles/au...c/authors.html

I think my fish is adjusting well to the four gallon, He's laying on his side attempting to go to sleep on the bottom of the gravel.
Tolerance is a great thing to have, so is the ability to shut up.

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you.

hmm... that would suck... But would seem to line up correctly, do you think it could have that much of an affect on a 55 gallon, that article is talking about a half gallon in a bag at most...

But the apistos do seem to chase after them a bit, usually just a "get away from me" type quick chase, but its enough...

If the fish were otherwise healthy and you can't figure out any other reason, it's a possibility, even if it's a long shot. Maybe the apisto's were "hit" just right by the mucus. I've read elsewhere that cory's use this as defense in their native environments, and if it works there, it would work in a closed environment like an aquarium.

I haven't been able to find out how to cure though... thats the big question, would a larger pwc take out the poison (or is it a type of sting) doesn't seem to be very much info on this.

Pretty much have it narrowed down to cory poison or parasites... I wanna try to save these guys, but not sure how

From what I have read, the poison is released into the water near the aggressor, not by a sting. I would think if it's poison, water changes and time would help. Are they showing any sort of parasitic symptoms like sunken or bloated bellies, wounds, or other marks?

That's a serious long shot, not impossible though but long.
That defensive mechanism is intended to be used when a cory is seriously cornered.

Well they are pretty much starving at this point. Haven't seen the one in qt eat in over a week, one in main tank has been acting up for a few days

I agree it's a long shot, but since there seems to be no other symptoms I thought it was worth mentioning. I've had good results from PraziPro, but it won't kill off every parasite, here is a link with some information and a list at the end of some medications and what they treat, http://www.exoticpetvet.net/aqua/parasites.html

Hey guys, picked up a 10 gallon tank last friday, put bubbler in it, and a few extra rocks to form a small cave. I added tetra parasite guard and set temp to around 76. Got both male apistos in and so far have seen no improvements

They won't eat, I changed the water (50%) per instructions yesterday, and re-treated, I plan to change water again tomorrow.

So far what I've noticed. Colors are good on dominate male, non-dominant is normal colors for him, not eating, not pooping, just floating just off the bottom of the tank and breathing.

Fins seem ok, scales don't seem puffy, so externally they appear fine... bellys a little sunken, but I assume since they aren't eating...

Anyone have any ideas what I can do here
