    Default Nano reef first try

    0 Not allowed!
I've never had a saltwater tank before, but I do own a 30g freshwater. I was thinking of trying to start up a nano reef, but have heard the parameters are harder to keep in smaller tanks. My initial idea was a 10g. Is there a certain size I should shoot for? And if so, what is there to know?
So far my plan was 10g setup, buy some powerheads, use the filter it came with, change the bulb out for a more salt-water friendly one. 4" sand substrate & rock to start out the cycle.
I'm a complete noobie here, let me know what I should be doing! looking for a cost effective, fun little tank :]

I would suggest the 30 gallon would make a pretty good first tank. That is actually not a bad size for your first tank. If your going to have live rock, I would suggest only using the HOB for chemical filtration. The below links can help
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.
