  1. Default Peaceful Cichlids?

    0 Not allowed!
    Hi,
I was wondering which cichlid species are peaceful enough to be housed in a 100L community tank with other species such as neon tetras, endler's livebearers, glass catfish, corydoras, peppermint bristlenose and maybe red cherry shrimp (although I realise this probably a bit optimistic to hope for a cichlid and shrimp tank haha). Which cichlids are generally considered the most peaceful species? I am not experienced with cichlids so a peaceful, hardy cichlid would be ideal
    thanks!

Well, lets pretend there is no shrimps there :) Rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) are the first applicants

Those and small apistos are the most obvious choice. Would work best in a reasonably well planted tank. Even then it's about 50% chance that they will scare the excrement out of the glass catfish. Cichlids and shrimps don't mix.

Also... if the fish mentioned above are stocked in sufficiently high numbers I seriously wonder if there's room left for these.

Blue rams used to be hardy, but now many say that they have been so inbred and treated with all kinds of chemicals that they no longer live up to their old reputation. Most apistos do not count as hardy fish due to their sensitivity to hard water and nitrates. From this I would go with either bolivian rams or cockatoo apistos.

Yes, how many of each type of fish are already in there?

That's many different types of fish for a tank that size - hope you're aware that neons and corys enjoy company (schools of 6+) - usually it's advised to have larger groups of schooling fish rather than 1 of this or 2 of that - though many people do that.

In that case how about 8 neons 6 cories and a pair of dead cockatoe and see how that goes.

I think Dead cockatoe's would be a bad sign....

A 25gal tank can support Appistogramma Cacatoides or Borelli without issue. Do not get more than 1 male of either. I would up the neons to 15 and stick with 6-8 corries added LAST to this tank.

    And as always:

    FW: 1 45gal, 1 40gal, 3 10gal, 3 30gal all community tanks of different species
    Sw: 1 55gal, 1 30gal show, 1 29gal show, 1 20gal and 2 10's
