possible 30 gallon saltwater tank

ive got a spare 30 gallon tank. I am intersted in doing a marine tank setup for a reef setup. if not possible then coral, ill only be ready in six months or so i have been doing research on them. Its time to start getting more info on proper suggestions from people with experience so i can get it up and running in no time when i start. your advice is more than welcome

The more you research and understand the better off you will be. If you can go with bigger tank that is always a plus. The samller tank values can change very quick vs larger setup but money is always a factor.

If it were me I would figure out what I want first... do I want fish? If so what kind will work in the setup? Corals? if so, what kind, softies, SPS, LPS?

When you figure out that you can plan the tank build. With corals you will need T5's or LED's. I think T5's would be easier for a smaller setup.

The typical setup for a good running tank is a skimmer, pump (with correct flow), overflow box but drilled tank is better, sump, fuge, bioballs and a way to remove nitrates.

Last but not least... its a challenge but research and taking your time will help in the long run

Take you time to figure out what type of marine tank you want and then research from there. The tank journals might be helpful for that. The below links will help give you a lot more detail on the basics of marine aquariums, just to add a little more info/details to the above suggestions as well
