Well, I finally got around to testing my system today. I plan on running it for a couple days. The initial results are perfect. After some minor trouble shooting(loose wire connections)
I set it up in a 55g drum and it raised the temp from 23c to 28c in about 10 minutes or so. The PVC fittings don't heat up at all... I am able to touch the connector right next to the element with no heat detected....
I am so stoked!!!! I can't wait to get the rest of my project going.. Scott.

Glad to hear it worked good
Keep us posted on how well this works. I am considering trying something very similar to your projectIf you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

Thanks a lot Cliff....I am really looking forward to seeing how much it will run in the tank. I will probably start testing in the tank on Monday or Tuesday... and slowly raising the temp a couple degrees a day till I get to my desired level.....

I am pleased to report, that the system ran all night with no problems.... I have the temp controller set for a 3 degree swing. Today I plan to change that to one degree and watch to see how stable it is and how often it cycles. this will give me an idea of how it will run in my tank and how much electricity it will use..

Another day testing and all is well. I did change the variance to 1°c and it cycled about every hour and a half for about 5-8 minutes..... so I think I am ready to start testing in my tank.....
I will let y'all know how it goes.... Scott.
