Wow. What a fight catching this must have been. Wonder how many fish he ate each day.

That is one large Marlin, according to the article it's the third largest ever landed.
My wife was of the opinion it should have been released. That puppy would easily have eaten 600 to 800 pounds of fish a week if the Muskie rule applies. Weight of Muskie vs poundage of food per week.

It is a dwindling species and a female of that size would have been quite important for the conservation of that species. I think that Killing something that was previously minding its own business just to have something to brag about is not appropriate. Now I know that in some instances such as deer population control may be necessary but this is a threatened species.

Or at least that is my opinion. Everyone is entitled to their own.

I would have released it. There is no real gain in killing an animal this significant.

ye it would have been nice to release such a giant back into the water, but even if they did im sure it would have died shortly after. just consider how tired the fish is after a fight like that, the fight attracts predators and without any energy left it would have fell prey. VERY impressive fish, i didnt know it was endangered? im both impressed and disappointed lol

Me too!

...as far as the fish goes...that is a BIG fish...and I would prefer to see it safely swimming freee and making more marlins too...

However...I don't always get what I want.
