mid level swimming fish

looking for a few mid level swimming fish for my tank, i have bottom fish, and a few top dwarf rainbow fish, but i'm looking for something that will go around the middle. Have Rams, for the bottom, the dont care about anything other then themselves so they dont have any aggression towards the little dwarf rainbow's, or my baby flagfish.

Most rainbows are mid level swimmers and go up to the top at night. My dwarf neon rainbows used to stay at the bottom when they were first introduced but they eventually made their way up to the middle. Maybe try a different type of rainbows if you're not worried about them cross breeding.

Can't remember your tank size but colombian tetras are mid levels swimmers - at least in my 30 gal. they are totally non aggressive and nice robust fish. Very colorful. I have a GBR in the tank with them and serpaes (who also don't both the ram but I've heard horror stories about them)

+ 1 to columbian tetras. There are a few more from that familey that would also be good, such as Rosy, Bleeding hearts and Lemon. Other good mid level tetras are Diamond and Bloodfin's.

There are some peaceful Barbs out there that are good mid level fish such as, Cherry, Cummings, Five banded and Black ruby.
