Quick Advice needed!
Hi all,
I am in the middle of starting from scratch again and after a good tank clean out, new filter, fresh water, stones etc.and have a problem... i think
I just filled the tank and lent by accident on the cross member brace from front to back at the the top of the tank and broke it, i'm guessing this kinda holds the tank from splaying ? i have a Rio 240l tank, can i get another one of these? and do i really need it ?
I'm affraid i'm going to hear an almighty noise in the night and have 240l of water all over the place...
Thanks
Leigh

Yes, you MUST have a cross bar when the tank is designed with one. Yes, the tank can fail - quickly if filled. You can patch it by drilling holes through it and a piece of thick plastic, and then rivit the two pieces together; glue maynot hold but rivits will. Bolts will work, too. But why? Just empty it and wait for the new replacement piece. Since you have no fisn, do drain the tank asap.

Thanks for the reply, it is only a small little cross bar and it snapped just under the lip where it clips on to the inner trim so a repair job is out of the question :-(
Can you advise me on where i can purchase another please ?

It's an official spare so any juwel dealer should be able to order it for you but you really don't want to wait too long. Those braces are there for a reason

Yes Empty it fast !!!
I had a 180 crack in half with over 250 gallons in the system. I replaced the top but failed to empty the water out. So I replaced the top with the bow out and crack!!!! empty the tank and wait until the bow goes back close to normal. If you have a plex you will even have more of a bow and much will be permanent
