Feature Fish

I am currently cycling a 100L/26g tank which I intend to house some neon tetras, glass catfish, guppies and maybe some red cherry shrimp. Any ideas for a good feature fish for this aquarium?? It is an artificially planted tank with a pH of approx 8 and pea size black and white gravel. Also any general stocking suggestions for this tank in general? I am not completely set on the idea of tetras guppies and glass catfish etc.

Have you thought about pygmy corys instead of the glass catfish? You could have a small school of them for the bottom, the guppies at the top and a nice school of neons in the mid section.

You don't need a "feature fish" in a small tank like that. Let your neon's be your feature fish by getting a school of about 30 of them. They'll do fine with the shrimp. If you go with corys, stick with what was recommended .......the pygmy. I wouldn't even get guppies myself but perhaps another small schooling fish like glow-light tetra's or a rasbora........galaxy or Harlequin.......and a smaller school of neon's?

I've said it before, I will say it again. Feature fish will scare the poo out of your glass catfish

Also consider that many fish will consider the red cherry shrimp as live foods:p They are exactly what many fish eat in the wild. If you keep the fish fed well and have a fair bit of cover for the shrimp do hide out in, they may be able to sustain a population.

I completely agree with lady Hobbs on your "feature fish" idea - not a good idea for that sized tank - a large school or 2 will look much nicer (the fish will act more naturally too) and get fish to cover the different parts of the tank.
