Using ceramics in tanks !!!!!

Hi all,
Can I use ceramic cups and models to decorate my fresh water fish tank ? Won't it hurt my fishes and plants ? Give suggestions for this .

Usually yes. If it's save to drink from it's safe for your fish. Glazed tends to be ok, unglazed I'd be more careful.

Also if it's a broken cup/ plate, file down the edges so they aren't sharp on your fish. Try to make everything smooth, and try to have all of it glazed if possible.

While people are talking alot about glazing I really don't think that is important. First every ceramic item I have ever picked up as some part that is not glazed, usually the bottom. Second the glazing is where most of the suspect chemicals are going to be, toxic pigments and such. In general most ceramics and their glazes are just going to be so baked they are not going to go anywere. If its OK to put ceramic in I don't think it matters if it is glazed because I am pretty sure that some part of every piece you put in will not be.

You can pick up a grout tile tool at home depot for a couple bucks to round any sharp edges.
