    I agree that chlorine remover is never a waste of money and having Prime on hand in the case of some ammonia emergency or the need to do an unexpected rapid water change is handy.
    I do think that the OP is just as concerned about the temperature though as it seems that even the cold tap water is coming out of the tap too hot for the tank, so letting it cool in a tub is a necessary evil.
