Looking good, personally i would have just used a wood finish, but the satin black will look sharp and make the tank pop

WOW, that was quick, and looks good

How many coats of paint were you planning to put on the stand ?

Are you going to give the inside a few coats of paint a well ?
If you take your time to do the research FIRST, you can successfully set-up and keep ANY type of aquarium with ease.

I put one coat of Kilz under the black and two coats of kilz sealer on the interior. This has just one coat of black right now and I am pretty happy with the coverage. I will have to asses it again when it fully dries to determine if a second topcoat is needed.

Geese, Mike, when you want something done, you get it done. ;] Very quick work and a job well done. It looks great!

Hehe, you know I really want to get to the plumbing but there was this pesky requirement for a stand that had to come first

Haha, I hear ya. I'm looking forward to seeing how you go about the plumbing, myself. I'd like to go the Sump route on my next tank - just not sure where to start, yet.

I opted to go ahead and give it a second coat of black paint. I guess now I just wait a day or two before I set the tank back on top. I plan on starting on the sump tomorrow.

I was given a tube of silicone from the guy I bought the tank from. It is Tremco Spectrem2... He claimed it to be "the best aquarium sealant around". I saw no indications that it was aquarium safe. I suppose I should just go buy a tube from petco to be safe.
