Wow, im new here but I just read this entire tread from the start, and that was amazing work! That tank looks sooooo good, you have a work of art there. Now lets see it with fishes!

I started preparing for fish this morning. I have been adding ammonia into the water and will stop at 1ppm. I will then add the media bag from the AC70 on my 55g to the top of the bio-balls in the sump. This will start the instant cycle in this tank. I will then wait for the ammonia to drop to zero and add enough daily to raise it to 1ppm again to keep it fed and hopefully enough to grow more.
1st dose was 2ml and that gave me .25ppm
2nd dose was an additional 3ml - this should give me .75 - 1.0ppm I am waiting just a bit before testing.

I used the following calculation to precisely add the correct amount of ammonia. It worked very well on my 120 litre and 30 litre tanks.
Tank volume = 270 litres
Ammonia concentration % = e.g. 9.5 (from the label on the bottle)
Ammonia level aim = 1ppm
Your calculation would be...
1/(9.5x10/270) = ammonia ml to add.
1/(95/270) = ammonia ml to add
1/0.35=ammonia ml to add
=2.9 ml household ammonia
Of course, the important bit is to know the concentration of your ammonia. I think yours must be weaker than 9.5% as you've already dosed that much.

At any rate I am currently at 1ppm with the ammonia. I have added the bio-media from the ac70. If all goes as planned I should read 0ppm tomorrow or later today. In all I ended up using 6ml of ammonia to get 1.0ppm.

Ah...if you don't have a % on the bottle that renders it not very helpful, sorry. You don't need it now as you know the dosage, but thought it might be worth posting for the geek factor

Definitely good information to know. Fish should be in Wednesday or Thursday next week.
