Initial Water params are as follows:

- GH - 107.4
- KH - 214.8
- Phosphates - 0
Still a little dust and microbubbles in the tank giving is some cloudiness but that was expected. The Jungle vals are proving to be difficult to keep rooted. I did break up the micro swords a bit more and added the last anubia by the cave. The ludwigia seems to be staying put at least for now. I also added another red crypt in the sand.
I need to go and buy some ammonia to start the fish-less cycle but I am not in a hurry. I need to check with Petco to see what the turn around is on ordering the cardinals. Well I do have plenty of bio-media I can pull some from my 55 when needed to start seeding.

I'd check around. Aquabid has some decent prices for large schools of cardinals... But I've also heard that if any get sick you have a high chance of the entire school getting sick.
I would check as many places as you can. My LFS said they could get me 50 of them at around $2-$2.50 each.
For stock this is what I'm thinking in this tank:
Either 25 Pygmy Cory, or 15 Standard Cory (Sterbai are my favorite)
Like 10 otos
Pair of rams
And a school of rummy nose tetras
You'd have two awesome schools then, plus some life on the bottom between the rams and corys. Wouldn't be too crowded and could also be adjusted

The water is getting clearer but there is still quite a bit of dust going around. I am thinking of doing a WC to help it along
I also planted the last 3 jungle vals in my 55 to fill in a bare spot I had.

Finally... I think I am done for now...
Well here we are nearing the end of the 72g build. I did a few tweaks on the overflows and returns to slow down the flow just a tad. The water is still a little cloudy but I did do a 15% WC today and that did help some. The wood is still releasing some tannins into the water but that will clear up in time as well. Actually it looks very close to what my 55g looked like right after I re-scaped it. I really like the way I designed the canopy it breaks down completely into 3 manageable pieces in about 30 seconds by simply releasing the 2 hold tight latches. I will have to keep an eye on the flow as well. I would like to increase the flow rate but I will have to revisit the spray nozzle and create something that allows more volume but less current, if that makes sense?? more diffused might be a better description.
Now moving onto water clarity and stocking options but first here are a bunch of pics I took after doing the WC.
