Nice looking tank Hardy. When you said Red I was expecting Red. That's not bad. What is that plant in front of the driftwood with the long leaves?

Hygrophila Angustifolia, grows like a weed :)

And great for nitrates, I have since moved all of it to behind that piece of drift wood.

I'm going to move the red crypt to behind the left piece of wood, add a jungle val in each of the back corners. and add 1 more amazon sword (where the red crypt is now) Trying to get a fuller plant look

I'd recommend just the plain turface MVP, its about same color as mine, mine leached the red color out... pain in the ass at first, fine now.

But I know someone the uses the plain and says he doesn't even wash it, and its not a problem

  5. Default Canopy in the works...

Well since I am waiting for the driftwood and rocks I decided to take some time to whip up a canopy for the tank. Just need to do a little fit and finish work then prep for paint. The whole thing will stay in place with 2 velcro straps for east dis-assembly when needed.

Here we go - The first two are without the flash...

Now that, good sir, looks absolutely awesome. And I love how your dog makes random appearances. A good loyal following from man's number 1 companion. Haha

Thanks Kevin- yes Henry, the dog, likes to make his presence known.

I am going to try to tidy up the trim on the canopy and get it primed and painted today and tomorrow. I didn't have the time to go rock hunting this weekend but know where there are a bunch similar to what I am after. The aquascape is starting to come together in my head now.

I am getting anxious to finish it all up lol. I don't like the look of an empty tank!

Empty tanks need love too lol. But yes, it does need to start to be scaped... therefore you need to start thinking of a stock. Gotta plan the scape around the stock

Right now I am thinking 20 - 25 Cardinal Tetras, 10-12 corries or ottos. Definitely want a large school as the main species but I think I need one other specie in there with them but not sure what yet. Open to suggestions.

    Hows this sound.

    20 Cardinal Tetras
12 Cories (pick one that contrasts your substrate)
10 Otos (will need zucchini for the first few months, but are worth it)
10 Rainbowfish (any of them, but I think the Turquoise or Bosemani would counter the colors of the cardinals well)
    4 Bolivian Rams

^This is my plan for my bowfront, except larger schools and adding school of hatchet fish
