New filters?

Well I was just wondering, for future reference, if anyone knows any good HOB filters that are rated for maybe 30 - 40 gallons that are cheaper and take up less room in the tank, in that more of the filter hangs outside of the tank instead of inside. I'm just wondering as when my two 10 gallons are empty I'd like to restock them however the tetra whisper filters that I have for the take up a TON of room inside the tank, as the filter basically is completely inside the tank and is only held on the edge of the back of the tank by a little clip. Or if anyone knows any canister filters that would be good that'd be great too.

Aquaclear has some great HOB filters which are primarily outside if the tank, the only thing inside being the intake tube. I don't think for 10 gallons that a canister would be needed, however if you really wanted to you could run a mini canister in tandem with the HOB.

Thank you. I'm just searching as my current tetra whispers are so damn annoying. The 20 - 30 gallon model I have in one of my 10 gallons literally takes up maybe a 1/6th of the tank, its ridiculous and they're extremely ugly.
