is the dust on the wood or in the water column?
wood that I have left dry outside of my tank for long periods of time has also got a look of white 'dusty' patches. usually on my big hunks of malaysian. I think this is the same thing you are referring to. it goes away once the wood has aged in the aquarium. give it a few months. harmless IME.
if the dust is actual particles in the water column I would recommend more mech filtration.
if it's a soft wood, plecos will usually gnaw off plenty of sawdust and you'd definitely notice.Last edited by Crispy; 02-17-2013 at 03:29 AM.

Then use tank water from my an established tank to clean......
Or just let it slide......an wait till monthly maint.150 gal. (1 black fin Pacu) Modified API Nexx modular filterX3+ a 1 litter bottle Moving Bed filter w/straws + DIY UFAS+ modified PowerHead to an aerated bacteria filter.
