RELIABLE fish species profile website??

After plenty of misinformation and running in circles, I have struggled to find a website that will give me reliable, true, freshwater fish profiles that let me know if my aquarium is big enough to house them, their required water parameters, max size, diet etc. I would love a lot of detail on many species that I know i can trust and i will not end up buying a fish too big for my aquarium because of some dodgy website.
Does anyone know a good site to offer me such reliable information?
It would make the world of help for stocking my aquarium

well this one is pretty good (aquaticcommunity.com) just over on left hand side has a bunch, or just google the type of fish and select the aquaticcommunity link

I have also looked at liveaquaria.com - seems to be reliable. but remember everyone has different experiences with different fish based on other stock, tank set up, water conditions, food etc etc etc. so just use the info u see for ideas

I find this site has very accurate info
monsterfishkeepers forum has accurate stuff
badmansfish also is good

that combo of info gives you a well rounded approach to any fish out there.
further information on what people have experienced and what is local to them is what this forum is for.

remember, that info is base knowledge
fish still have their own personalities and genetics that make up all the difference.

The profiles here aren't bad mostly but the number is fairly limited.

I use these three and I've found that they are very accurate:

http://www.planetcatfish.com/ for all things "pleco" but also corydoras and many, many other catfish. Their forum is pretty low traffic but it's still the place to go for accurate ID on difficult species.
http://www.loaches.com/ for loaches. The forum also has some very knowledgable people.
http://www.seriouslyfish.com/ for pretty much anything else.

All three sites have the basics but also suggestions on tank setup, seriously fish has good tips on tank mates and all three have breeding info.

I use seriouslyfish for nearly everything. If it doesn't have it, badmansfish usually does. If not, I take to the search.

+1 to the above. As a newbie, I used them also, along with this forum. LiveAquaria is good, but sometimes has info that is different from the other sites. I also used AQAdvisor for stocking info. It's not exact, but gives you a good idea if you are going in the right direction for your individual tank set-up.

I hate to be rude but http://www.liveaquaria.com/ is run by a big company. I did some checking today. It's either incomplete or wildly inaccurate. I don't think it's good enough for anyone serious about fishkeeping. I sent them an email about a few blatant errors, see how they try to wiggle out of that one.

The best way to gather info on any fish sp is to ask someone who has actually kept that species in a successfull way. Ignore the hand me down info the web has become glutted with.

Yup. If you go to a club meeting or a swap or event and see someone who has incredible specimens of the fish you are interested in this is the very best way to gather really good info on the fish. If you can reproduce them in high quality you are doing something correctly.
