I made the same mistake the second time I did a fishless cycle. I forgot you're meant to let the ammo drop to zero before re-dosing and my cycle stalled (as I was topping up) and nitrites refused to drop. I realised my mistake when I re-read the cycling instructions and the cycle completed within ten days after that.
