Possibly Stupid Question...

I've always wanted to get a Green Spotted Puffer or a Figure Eight Puffer but I know these fish are brackish. I've also always wanted to try my hand at a salt tank.

Are there any "brackish corals"? Or corals that would thrive at that salinity?

Short answer? No.

Corals require much higher salinity/density in the water that they live. Marine water around the world has an average density range between 1.023-1.025g/mL and salinity range between 30-50g/mL, while average Brackish water has a density range between 1.005-1.010g/mL and salinity of .5-29g/mL.

That's quite a range difference and unfortunately corals require the density/salinity range of marine water.

And even planting a brackish is a bit of a challenge. Can be done though, anubias seems to work well for most.

I'm dealing with a brackish tank right now, myself... hadn't heard that Anubias works ok, but I have read that mangrove seedlings and Java fern work. I'll be able to confirm both in the coming weeks. ;P Same with Tiger Lotus.
