I agree with him too. I just passed on the first gas bubble link I ran across figuring anyone interested would do their own research but I have
never heard of plants causing gas bubble either. I have heard of it from over saturation of oxygen in the tank, however. But then........
I don't know everything there is to know, either. Maybe there's something yet to be learned?

For now, I'd be happy if the photo would resize itself as it used to do.

A quick update - I am surprised to see that the sick Oto is in fact alive. The fish that I found dead this morning was one of the other otos, which showed no outward signs of illness.

The temperature in this tank is 80 F and stable. I did no water changes for 1 week prior to the introduction of the Otos, so that means I didn't add cool water to the tank which might have raised gas levels. Also, I floated the bag with the new Oto's for 90 minutes before introducing them. I slowly added tank water to the bag over the course of an hour. In sum, although it could be gas bubble, it seems unlikely that the water conditions were such that would cause gas bubble.

Since the cause is possibly fungus, I plan to treat with Maroxy.

Just a quick update! I treated with Maroxy and the condition seems to have gone away.

I am confused - adding very slightly cooler water to a tank IS the safest approach. Adding warmer water can cause 'bubble disease" and is not safe. Otherwise, the process you outlined sounds very safe (esp. relative to pH.)
