Well, my female Golden Wonder was returned to the lfs today. I came home to find her with a mouth full of Oto Cat...and she wasn't letting go, literally had to pull the Oto from her mouth. The Oto seems to be okay after an hour or more of hiding is now out and about a little so my fingers are crossed. I'm watching the male Golden Wonder like a hawk but he is smaller & seems less aggressive so far, the female terrorized the heck out of him also. At first she would just chase him but after a few days she would literally put him in the corner of the tank under the bottom of the sponge filter.
I feel bad I couldn't keep her, really liked the inquisitive personality._______________________________________________

lol - That is exactly why I won't put Otos into my tank, and went for some more aggressive/larger fish. Now you know the "wonder" of owning Golden Killies.
Tank 1: 20gal Long Planted Freshwater - 1 Crowntail Betta + 8 Oto Cats + 1 Horned Nerite Snail + 2 Orange Rabbit Snail + 5 Amano Shrimp
Tank 2: 75gal Planted Freshwater - 6 Serpaes + 1 Black Phantom + 3 Golden Wonder Killies + 1 Opaline Gourami + 2 Striped Raphael Cat + 4 SAEs + 5 Assassin Snails
Tank 3: 10gal Planted Brackish Water - 4 Nerite Snails
Tank 4: 10gal Planted Freshwater - 5 Rabbit Snails

Lol, Kevin you are sooo right. I'm hoping to get another larger tank soon (120 gal) so if I have to keep the male in a QT tank I will until it's setup and that tank won't have otos even though I just adore them.
Here's a picture of the male with a sinking pellet meant for corys, not quite sure of the mm size but NOT tiny lol

For the old saying - a picture is worth a thousand words - boy, does that picture say "Bad ass" ... .
Knowledge is fun(damental)
A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell

lol... that photo is both of excellent quality and hilarious. =]
I just stuck a cube of freeze dried Tubifex worms to the glass last night. Everyone was having a good ol' time eating the pieces that were torn off, but one of the Serpaes knocked it off and it floated to the top. My female Golden Wonder immediately swallowed it whole.
Big mouths - bigger eyes... your photo says it all. ;PLast edited by KevinVA; 02-20-2013 at 02:36 PM.

Well, my beautiful and wonderfully sweet male Golden Wonder Killie was returned to lfs...I decided to keep him in my qt until my cory fry gained some size and couldn't be swallowed by Mr Big Mouth. I then added 7 Serpae tetra to the qt. Within minutes he had all 7 hiding behind the sponge filter in fear. I didn't see him nip but he was relentless in chasing them until they hid. Someday I will keep this stunning fish again when I have a larger tank and larger tank mates.

lol, I'm sorry you had to give up your GW killie. Mine does fine with Serpaes, but they are all housed in a 75gal. He probably would have done better with them in your main tank, but even then, your fry probably wouldn't stand a chance.

Thanks Kevin, I agree he would have done better in the main tank but I just adore that I have a cory fry and then would also have to "wonder" about the sweet little torpedo shaped otos he like his female friend tried to swallow whole :D
Can't wait to start a larger tank!!!_______________________________________________

lol, believe me, I understand. If I had to do it again, I'd go for a smaller Killi - or maybe hatchet fish, next time. =]
