Water changes will remove the excess ammonia and permit the cycle to continue normally - I didn't realize you hadn't remove the prawn - pumping ammonia into your tank via rotting fish isn't the way to go unfortunately. High ammonia stalls things.

So just took my levels (wasn't able to get around to doing a water change today)
-Ammonia 4.0 (but doesn't look as green as it was looking but still in that range)
-nitrAte 1.0 (going up)
-niteraIte 5.0 (the same)
Is this weird as I actually don't have any source of ammonia going into the tank (at all)?
I'm thinking if just being patient and letting nature take its course for a little while longer :)

Somehow you need to get the ammonia back to 1 ppm (becareful; above 2 ppm ammonia can stall nitrite bacteria) to feed the bacteria.
Knowledge is fun(damental)
A 75 gal with eight Discus, fake plants, and a lot of wood also with sand substrate. Clean up crew is fifteen Sterba's Corys. Filters: canister w/UV, in-tank algae scrubber that removes phosphates and nitrates! Also, a highly dangerous commercial nitrate removal unit from hell

Yes, what are you using to add ammonia - if you don't add any for a day or two, whatever bacteria you currently have grown will die (the ammonia is their food) and you will be back at square 1 with an uncycled tank.
As Cermet noted, you don't want to bring the ammonia up to more than 1.0 at this point because you have a reading for nitrites.46 gal fw tank with black skirt tetras, neon tetras, spotted cory catfish, cherry barbs, guppies, snails & 4 amano shrimp - plastic & live plants
