hey everyone I have a question for the tech people out there about filtration. I am running a pegiun 250, 350, and aquaclear 70 HOB and fluval 106, 205, & filstar XPL (XP3) on a 110 gallon wide fresh water tank. how many times do you think i'm turning this thing over an hour roughly is my guess of about 10 times an hour a good guess ( I know you have to minus flow rate because of media and amount of media)? also anyone with marineland HOB pengiun 250 or 350 do you get better results with the slider on the mid section of the intake stem open or closed? Ive had them open for about a week and now have closed them so I can actually watch for a difference but am curious if anyone else has done this test already

Add together the manufactures listed flow in GPH and divide in half. That equals a rough ballpark of what you are effectively running through a filter with media.
I am not sure what you are watching for... You are simply changing where a portion of the water is pulled from. In some circumstances this could have a dramatic effect on the flow of the tank but IMO yours isn't one of them.
Personally, I would continue to run them closed to pull from the bottom.
Gas mileage isn't everything OIIIIIIIO
Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Why pretend there are no stupid questions? Actually, There are many stupid questions: "Should I drink this bleach?" Is just one example.
Having said that, Just because it's a stupid question doesn't mean that it shouldn't be asked. It's better to know.
A warm beer is better than a cold beer. Because nothing is better than a cold beer, and a warm beer is better than nothing.
